American Express Credit Card Returns To Nigeria

AMERICAN Express said it decided to remove Nigeria from its blacklist and return its card services to Nigeria in recognition of the huge number of honest Nigerians angling for its services. Meanwhile, UP, also known as Unified Payments, will now offer American Express card acceptance to merchants in Nigeria. American Express introduced the first plastic credit cards and accounts for about 22 percent of card processing market in the United States. Speaking exclusively to Financial Vanguard in Lagos on the sidelines of the launching of the American Express card services by UP, Chairman, American Express and Global Business Travel Nigeria, Chief John Adebanjo, said: “The blacklisting of the country is something that has been on for a very long time because of the activities of some of the bad elements in our society. “When they pick some of these transactions, the IP address originates from here.
